Castle Terrace

Montgomery

Castle-Terrace-1

Perched atop the steeply stacked town of Montgomery, just below its ancient stronghold, sits Castle Terrace. Formerly the town gaol built by the Earl of Powis, Duncan was commissioned to develop a heraldic design for a bedroom illuminating this connection. Various iterations of the lion rampant from the Powis coat of arms were consulted, with this interpretation re-worked from a late 18th century bookplate bearing the crest. The date and shield were adopted from the fabric’s primary inspiration: a carved stone plaque set into a monument on the edge of the property’s land.
