Kilmartin Throw

First created for Kilmartin Castle, this pattern tells the story of the ancient sites of Kilmartin Glen in Argyll. Its inspiration comes from the repeating circular forms of the rock art, stone henges, hillforts and burial cairns left by centuries’ worth of human presence in this wild landscape. At its heart is an interpretation of the Glen’s countless cup & ring marks as depicting ripples in water (one of many theories), pierced by a sword from Kilmartin Museum which formed part of a spiritual bog offering.

These throws are hand-printed in slate ink and stitched to order on a durable warm grey linen mix. They are edged and backed in plain grey cotton.
