Floorplan Cushion

Price range: £45.00 through £55.00

As a self-confessed buildings geek I have always loved pouring over historic floor plans, using them as maps to decode how a building functions while imagining the different lives lived within the corridors and walls put down on paper. I first printed these cushions to reflect this passion in my own home, and now offer them here for other architecture enthusiasts to enjoy.

The plan I chose for my print belongs to the principal floor of an 18th Century Scottish castle designed by Robert Adam (adapted with a little artistic license), and reminds me of exploring its ruins since it was de-roofed in the 1950s and now falls back to nature. I love its mix of round and square shapes, and not quite perfect symmetry.

These cushions are handmade from start to finish in my studio in the Scottish Lowlands. Each is individually screen-printed by hand onto natural coloured linen and stitched with a coordinating dark grey linen on the reverse. Completed with a zip fastening and plump feather inner, choose between piped or un-piped edges.
