Tudor Throw – autumn edition

£425.00

The next instalment of my seasonal pieces, my Tudor throw is my ode to Autumn.

Hand-printed in a berry red on orange linen, edged in a deep red wool and finished with hand-stitched detailing, this piece is uniquely hand-crafted from start to finish. I have conceived and created it to harness the season’s richness, through its burnished palette of rowan, hawthorn, beech and cherry which I have been watching change through my local landscape.

Size: 195cm x 188cm (will cover the top of a double bed)

About the pattern:

My Tudor pattern is inspired by a carved oak screen at Steyning church in West Sussex, crafted to commemorate the marriage of Henry VIII & Catherine of Aragon. I have streamlined their respective insignia of the rose and the pomegranate into a design I hope can feel ancient & modern at the same time, and be interpreted in both figurative and abstract ways. Its motifs have been likened to ‘fossil spirals and ancient downland landforms’, a comparison which bears witness to my time in Sussex researching the archives of one of my favourite designers, Peggy Angus.
